Highly recommended for all freshmen! Learn the essential computer formatting skills required by teachers here at OHS! This business course will begin with a keyboarding review to be certain all students are keying by touch at a speed of AT LEAST 30 words per minute. Students will complete projects in file management, proofreading, online classrooms, Google docs and Google calendar. The course content will move quickly into correct formatting of documents using Microsoft Word and Excel; including tables, business letters, MLA reports, spreadsheets with charts and more!

This full year, vocational course will prepare students with the knowledge and skills to work and excel in today’s business office! Students have access to a classroom full of technology—20 stations including laptops, handheld computers, scanners, copy machine, color printer, etc. Lessons and projects will cover business etiquette, telephone communication, machine transcription, filing, printing calculator, employment portfolio, keyboarding speed building, and more. Several current software programs will be utilized, including applications in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Six hours of credit from East Central will be offered.

Students will learn how to manipulate photos and text, create and edit all types of digital images, learn photoshop basics, explore photo and page editing applications, and use a die cut machine to create design projects.

Students will work through the financial accounting cycle and payroll for a sole proprietorship. Career opportunities will be explored to see what the future holds for the accounting profession. This course is highly recommended for anyone planning a business career or wishing to own their own business.
